Bend In The River

Bend In The River
£295
Image size: 560mm x 760mm

I drew Bend in The River on a blustery day at Chesters Roman Fort, on the last day of May 2019.

Chesters Roman Fort is an exceptional historical site close to Hadrian‘s Wall, in the North of England. The fort was built nearly 2,000 years ago on the northern edge of the Roman Empire, and now sits between the more modern settlements of Walwick and Chollerford in Northumberland. This view looks north along the river that runs past the fort. The river - for broad river it is - is nowadays called Mill Stream. Where I stood to draw this picture, a Roman bridge spanned the river in its heyday. I battled with the weather to keep hold of my drawing as it emerged from the paper, with clouds running overhead and spots of rain and bright sunshine taking turns with me. Crows flew around me and a single heron flew down river, high above.

Bend in the River is drawn on 300gsm heavily textured watercolour paper that measures 560mm x 760mm. The edges of the photograph of this picture match exactly the edges of the paper on which it is drawn.

Bend in the River is a unique and original piece of art. It is not a print, and so is not one of many in an edition.

The price shown includes postage and packing for delivery to a UK address. Every drawing dispatched is wrapped in acid-free tissue paper and securely packaged in a sturdy cardboard tube, and delivered to the address required by post via Royal Mail or Parcel Force (depending on the size of the drawing) and signed for upon delivery.

If you would like a drawing delivered to an address outside the UK, please let me know when ordering and I will investigate whether you need to pay anything extra to cover the increased postage price.
